Explore
Further afield you will find Whitby (25 min by car) and Scarborough (10 min by car). Robin Hood’s Bay (15-20 minutes away) is a lovely little village between here and Whitby. It is at the end of the Wainwright Walk and an old smugglers’ village nestled into the cliffs provides charming sea views and lovely walks.

The Barons fitness centre contains a sports hall, four squash courts, pickleball and padel courts, and two state of the art gyms and fitness studios.

Barons offers classes you can take as a non-member, like yoga and pilates. You can find a timetable here. A day pass to the gym does not require prior booking, but classes and courts do. Bookings can be made by calling reception on 01723 357740 and selecting option 2.

The Rugby Club is home to our town’s excellent rugby team. The team currently plays in the North East One League and has been home to former England players such as Robert Michael Marshall, as far back as 1938. More recently, Zoe Aldcroft and Ben Foden have come through the club.

The J.M. Guthrie Clubhouse contains three bars, meeting and function rooms, a snooker room, eight changing rooms and the club shop.

The Old Railway Line / Cinder Track. The cinder track is accessible from either village or a track at the side of the Rugby Club. The cinder track runs from Scarborough to Whitby and is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
