Holmefield House & Barns
We invite you to stay with us and experience sustainable luxury at Holmefield House!

Holmefield is a small holding built in the 1930s. It was originally used as a rabbit breeding farm and more recently, home to cattle and sheep who helped to keep the grass down. The Tamblin family purchased the property in November 2021 with the aim of sharing this lovely location with friends and families coming to enjoy all the area has to offer. We have recently refurbished the main house and replaced an old static caravan with a new glamping cabin we call Gertie.

The spectacular views from the front of the house are over Cloughton Bank and Reasty Forest. There are plenty of good walks in the forest area. From the fields at the back, you can see the North Sea and Scarborough Castle in the distance (on a clear day). You are welcome to use the back fields and enjoy the views, but please do not approach the construction site and keep yourselves and any pets clear of the building site and associated hazards. Please be conscious we may have sheep in the fields or guests with pets in Gertie, so please check with us before taking your dogs into the fields and keep dogs under control at all times.

The convenience of the main road taking guests to Scarborough or Whitby and the Holmefield bus stop make it easy to get to some amazing places in a flash, but please beware for pets and children. The front is not securely fenced, and the road at the bottom of the drive carries fast moving traffic.

What Our Guests Say

Our
Ethos
We aim to make informed decisions, balancing cost and impact on our environment. Throughout the construction phase of the project, we are investing in clean energy, installing solar panels, battery storage, and air source heat pumps to heat our homes.

We choose more natural materials wherever budget allows and it is practical to do so. We reuse any materials from the original buildings that we can.

We use second-hand furniture and furnishings wherever feasible and reasonable, which gives Holmefield its ‘unique’ internal style.

As we open Holmefield up to the public, we strive to use eco-friendly products. Everything from our loo roll to the washing up liquid is a considerate choice.

We try, wherever possible, to make more sustainable choices and limit our impact on our environment. You can learn more about the decisions we’ve made and the research that has gone into making them with a little browse around this site.

You can stay with us to see how a fully solar-electric heating system looks, feels, and works in real terms. You can see for yourself how efficiently the central heating and hot water function in a working home. (And enjoy a lovely holiday at the same time!)
