Homecoming

Our journey from the picturesque town of Welwyn in Hertfordshire, UK, to our family farm in Greensboro, Georgia, USA, marks a significant chapter in our lives. Nestled in the charming English countryside, Welwyn offered us a serene environment filled with historic architecture and lush landscapes. It gave our kids the freedom and independence to roam the village on foot or by bike, always surrounded by friendly faces. We have always felt safe in this beautiful place.

However, the allure of our family farm, with its sprawling fields and rich heritage, beckoned us across the Atlantic.

The Decision to Relocate

The decision to move was not made lightly. We spent countless hours discussing the opportunities that awaited us in Georgia, including the chance to reconnect with family roots and embrace a lifestyle centered around agriculture and nature. More than anything, I felt a deep pull to put down roots the last time we visited. I just didn't want to leave.

There are many things I love about the US; there are things I don't like very much. But I've always missed being close to my family. As my own children grow, so does my own desire for them to gain a deeper understanding of the heritage and culture in which I grew up.

Preparing for the Move

In preparation for our relocation, we are meticulously planning all that we can. From sorting through our possessions in Welwyn to organizing the logistics of shipping a dog across the Atlantic, the process is both exciting and overwhelming. We cherish the memories of our time in the UK while looking forward to the adventures that await us in the United States.

Embracing New Experiences

As we settle into our new home, we are excited to embrace the rich culture and traditions of my youth. I look forward to collecting eggs, feeding horses, fishing on the pond, and learning about the family business of forest management. I think it means I'll have to conquer my fear of snakes after all.
